So, as my friend and I were watching episode nine on Sunday, we had a conversation that went like

Me: So, you think we'll get any backstory on Ren and Nora in this volume? Or Jaune.

Friend: *incredulous look* we literally just got introduced to Blake and Weiss's families and it's volume four. JNR aren't even from the main team.

    Me: ...that's true.

    "Wtf is this" warning.

    "Take care of each other."

    "We always have."
Bow chicka bow wow. Somehow, I think I'm more dead inside than usual, after that joke.

Two steps forward (Yang and Weiss), two steps back (Sun and Qrow). Goddammit, Rooster Teeth.
Being serious for once, RT has a 4-hit combo for good episodes right now. Keep that good sh*t coming. Sad, but quality. Personally, I shed no tears or gave no facial expression, but I imagine that if I wasn't dead inside, I'd feel something right now, but I think I'm the person who drinks the tears instead of crying them. Don't judge. I think I still have a heart, behind the armor. Right, RWBY now.

I don't think Sun will die (immediately, of course he'll die someday), because then they'll just be killing off best girls (and their arms) for the hell of it. That could be me not wanting them to kill off Sun, though. Who knows? On a related note, Qrow is probably not going to make it. I don't want it to be true, but that doesn't make it any less probable. Hopefully, at least one survives. I mean, this isn't Attack on Titan.

I just realized that all of the original RWBYs were in the episode. Weird

Zwei deserves his own part. *ahem* ZWEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My mind is drifting again, so time to end it off with feels:
    Ooooooooone liiiiiife
    Is not a loooooooong tiiiiime
    When you're waaaaaaaiiting
    For a smaaaaaaaall siiiiiiiiiign.

    Paaaaaaaatieeeeeeeence
    Is haaaaaaaard to fiiiiiind
    Shaaaaaadooooooooooows
    Seem to fiiiiiiiill your liiiiiiife.

Here's something I've been thinking about since the episode aired:

We know that Weiss, having learned to control the final aspect of her semblance, is getting ready to make her Great Escape (pun slightly intended) with the assistance of the ever loyal Klein. But my question then is this: once she's out of the house, what's her plan? What are her goals aside from escaping?

Weiss doesn't strike me as the kind of person to just "wing it," and when she asked Klein for that favor, she had a look in her eye that she knew exactly what she was going to do, so I'm inclined to think that she has some kind of plan in place. For the life of me though, I can't quite nail down one specific option since again, once she's out of the house, it's pretty open-ended from there, and yet I question the actual chances of success with the available courses of action, other than just straight up fleeing Atlas.

Option #1: Going public about her father and brother being shitheads.

We know that one of Weiss' core goals is redeeming the SDC and her family name, but this is a long-term goal, and Weiss is just flat out not in a position to even have a reasonable chance of making progress on this goal. I could see her showing up at some public event pertaining to the formal announcement of Whitley being named successor to raise a big stink about how awful her father and brother are, but as we saw with the post-concert gala, public opinion is not on Weiss' side because most of the Atlesian people are spoiled, self-absorbed assholes. Sure, throwing some eggs at her father's and brother's faces might help crack their hold over public perception, but I seriously doubt that much would come of it since the kind of changes Weiss wants to make have to be done internally, and she's now completely on the outside. Plus, showing herself out in public in full view of her father would then make her eventual escape from Atlas that much harder to accomplish if Jacques sends his guards after Weiss.

While a scene like this would be super entertaining and a good step for Weiss' development in issuing a formal declaration against her father, it's ultimately a "penny-wise, dollar-short" short-sighted move that would compromise Weiss' need for secrecy with little to actually gain from it, other than the piece of mind of at least trying to show the public that her father is an asshole.

Option #2: Going to Winter and/or Ironwood for help

Winter and Ironwood are probably Weiss' only allies inside Atlas, though I would bet that if Weiss shows up to Atlas Military HQ, Ironwood would tell Weiss that Winter is out in the field on assignment. Still, Ironwood is the only one who shares Weiss' views on the state of affairs and the public's intentional ignorance since he too was a witness to the fall of Beacon and knows who the real enemies are. However, I just don't know if Ironwood is in a position to really do anything (other than maybe giving Weiss an airship to flee in).

Sure, he might agree that Jacques and Whitley in command of SDC is a detriment to Atlas (and the world), but I would be absolutely shocked if Ironwood actually acted upon these sentiments and attempted some kind of coup on behalf of Weiss, or even publicly support any verbal condemnation Weiss may sling at her father and brother. At the end of the day, Ironwood is still a public figure bound by the rules of his position, and using military resources to seize SDC assets and overthrow Jacques (like a socialist revolution) could be considered an act of treason. Not to mention the fact that despite everything, Ironwood and Jacques are still "friends" (or as much of friends as one can be towards Jacques and still have some moral collateral), so I doubt Ironwood would openly oppose Jacques.

He would be very sympathetic to Weiss' plight, and might even offer her refuge inside the Atlesian Military Academy, but I doubt Weiss would accept that because she would still be close enough to Jacques where he could come after her. Ultimately, she needs to get out of Atlas entirely, which Ironwood would at least help with that since he can't do much of anything else.

Option #3: Reuniting with the rest of RWBY

This one is the obvious one, and the option that would follow after Options 1 and/or 2, but there is a possibility that Weiss will just immediately leave Atlas to find her teammates and friends without even attempting to do something in Atlas, whether that involves taking on her father and brother, or seeking help from Ironwood. However, while it is the safest option, it's the least interesting because Weiss wouldn't even bother trying to do something inside Atlas, which is ground zero for her problems and goals. We're at the point now where Weiss is becoming more sure of herself to even confront her father in the first place, (even if it's behind closed doors), so I don't think Weiss would just cut and run, but none of her other courses of action have any real chance of making an impact.

Assuming she gets an airship (either by "borrowing" one or getting one from Ironwood), she would most likely head for Patch. She has no idea that RNJR left for Mistral, and nobody knows where Blake ran off to, so Patch is her only lead. From there, Yang will inform Weiss that Ruby ran off to Mistral and then they'll both go after her.

What do you guys think Weiss will do? Is there an option I missed? She may attempt all 3 options (going from 2, to 1, to 3), but I seriously doubt that they would amount to much other than the satisfaction Weiss might have in actually trying and, in the case of Option 1, being able to say she publicly denounced her father as the asshole that he is.

I don't think option three will happen as not only does she need to escape. She needs to get a airship by stealing one or buying one if she has stolen one of Jacque's credit cards, and then she needs to learn to fly it or possibly she could pay a pilot a lot of cash to take her there but if the pilot knew that she wasn't allowed out the mansion he wouldn't. Anyway it seems quite unlikely in my option that she will do it.

So how else is Weiss supposed to leave Atlas fast enough to catch up with her teammates and not travel across continents for 6-8 months like RNJR did? An airship is literally the only way to get out of Atlas, and I already talked about how Ironwood might help Weiss by giving her one of his airships. He could also assign to her one of his pilots, or give Weiss a crash course in how to fly one.

Regardless of what happens, Weiss cannot stay in Atlas. That much is for certain. The plot takes place elsewhere, and it's always been her goal to leave Atlas. There is nothing that Weiss can do within Atlas to help advance the overall plot, and once she defies her father in this way, Atlas just isn't safe for her at all.

To be fair though, I think a lot of fans actually wanted more information about this "Great War" that's been mentioned so frequently in the past. Now we're finally getting it.

Then again, there always seems to be a glass half full vs half empty divide regarding anything RT does, especially with RWBY.
