I'm not certain so I wanted your opinion, but I'm about 99% sure the Shotgun sound in Halo 2 is what Yang's gauntlets use.

Possible RT callback to Red Vs. Blue, maybe?

Wouldnt surprise me, I noticed that in V3E12 when pyrrha threw her shield at one point it made the sound of the Manhacks from Half-life 2

And I think Blake's pistol possibly sounds like Halo's Magnum Pistol

Probably less of a callback and more of a utilization of available sound assets. Why get new ones when they've been using these ones for RvB for years?

Can they get into legal trouble, for that kind of thing?

Sound effects are considered open source I believe. On most grounds they are not considered "created." Because who can own a sound really? (As opposed to music which is a complex composition)

So is that why so many things get away with using the Jurassic Park T-rex roar?

Probably. It's been used so often that it would be considered fair use at this point.

It's one of the many things I hate about Rosario + Vampire: Moka's transformation sound is the same as the proton packs starting up. It makes me want to watch Ghostbusters and instead I'm watching Rosario + Vampire.

Yeah that's the one downside to reusing sound effects. It's a bit jarring when you hear something iconic you recognize from another work. Such as the Wrathtars in Force Awakens making the Bayformers noise or Black Widow's tech making a lightsaber noise.
